Enjoy This Christmas with Beef Tenderloin Extravagance

Are you planning on the menu for the Christmas or New Year party? Do you want to make an all time favorite with a twist? Then the safest bet will be to make steaks with a new and scrumptious recipe. Almost every single foodie loves steaks as they are tasty easy to make. This year, for Christmas try and make, “Beef Tenderloin Steak with Mushrooms and Madeira” for dinner. To make this dish you will require:

  • 4 tablespoons of butter
  • 14 ounces of sliced white button mushrooms (can use more)
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon of fresh garlic, minced
  • 2 -3 tablespoons of finely chopped shallots (or to taste)
  • 4 (5 ounce) beef tenderloin steaks (about 1-inch thick)
  • 1 tablespoon of fresh thyme, finely chopped or 1 -2 teaspoon of dried thyme
  • ½ a cup of Madeira wine
  • 1 ½ cups of beef broth
  • ½ a cup of whipping cream
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 1 tablespoon of flour, mixed with
  • 1 tablespoon of melted butter, (for the roux)

To make the steak first, in a large skillet, melt the butter. Then add the mushrooms and sauté them for about 10 minutes, till they are tender. Put in the shallots and only half of the garlic mince and sauté it for another three minutes. After that, add the thyme and season it with pepper and salt. Transfer these mushrooms into a bowl once done.

Melt the remaining butter and 2 tablespoons of oil in the skillet and heat it over medium flame. Season the steaks with pepper and salt and add to the skillet. Cook the steak to the doneness you desire. If you want medium-rare then cook them for three minutes on each side. Place the steaks on a plate. Add the rest of the shallots and garlic in the skillet and sauté for two minutes. Add the Madeira and reduce it by half. Then, add the broth and boil the mixture and then reduce it to 2/3 of a cup. Put in the cream and boil for another two minutes. If you want a thicker sauce then, in a small cup mix melted butter and one tablespoon of flour, add this to the cream mixture as a thickening agent.

Then stir in the mushroom and season the sauce. Put the steaks back into the skillet and cook till heat well. Transfer them back onto the plates and pour the sauce over.

Cooking beef tenderloin steaks could be challenging if you are cooking them for the first time. You must know how long you should cook them or else they will remain undercooked or you might also over cook them.
